Looking after yourself in the heat

It is good to be able to look outside the office window and see the Riverside Stadium sparkling against a clear blue sky but during this  hot weather I do need to just remind people to take some sensible health precautions and ensure that they are using a high factor sun cream, wearing a hat, avoiding the midday sun and keeping well hydrated. Every day this week my daughter has returned from college with further stories of friends with sunburn. Getting sunburn, just once every 2 years, can triple your risk of melanoma skin cancer. Sunburn doesn’t have to be raw, peeling or blistering. If your skin has gone pink or red in the sun, it’s sunburnt. So enjoy being outside, but do be careful and apply the suncream before you take a doze.

If this fine weather continues you may well need to apply suncream for our community fun day to celebrate NHS 70 next week. Thursday 5 July 2018, 2-5pm in the market place in North Ormesby. Come along and learn more about how you can chelp the NHS by looking after yourselves better.
