Share your views on Teesside breast cancer diagnostic services

Teesside patients have been urged to share their views to help improve breast cancer diagnostic services in the area.

The NHS is currently running a 12-week listening exercise to talk to people across Middlesbrough, Redcar and East Cleveland about their experience of breast diagnostic services at North Tees Hospital.

The service moved to North Tees Hospital temporarily from James Cook Hospital in October 2015 due to an inability to recruit breast radiologists.

NHS South Tees Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) want to hear the views of anyone living in the Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland area who has had a breast diagnostic appointment at North Tees Hospital after being referred by their GP.

This does not include patients referred though a routine breast screening appointment.

Dr Janet Walker, Medical Director at NHS South Tees CCG, said: “There are lots of ways patients can get involved with our 12-week listening exercise. We have three engagement events coming up in 2020, as well as a survey to fill in.

“We would love to hear your views about what is good and bad about the service and how we can improve.

“I would encourage  you to either come along to one of our engagement events or complete a short survey. Your views will help shape how the service looks in the future.”

The first breast services engagement event is taking place at Palace Hub, 28 – 29 Esplanade, Redcar, TS10 3AE on Thursday January 9 from 2.30pm until 3.30pm.

Patients are asked to register their attendance by visiting www.breastservicespubliceventredcar9jan.eventbrite.co.uk or calling 01642 745401.

A second event is being held at Acklam Green Centre, Stainsby Road, Middlesbrough, TS5 4JS on Wednesday January 15 from 10am until 11.30am.

A further event is taking place at the same venue from 6pm until 7.30pm on January 15.

You can register to attend by visiting https://breastservicespubliceventmbro15janam.eventbrite.co.uk (am) https://breastservicespubliceventmbro15janpm.eventbrite.co.uk (pm) or calling 01642 745401.
